John Kerry is looking to become the President of the of the United States and Commander of the military. As a Marine veteran I honor his courage in combat – however, I feel that he himself negated that accomplishment by his later actions as head of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War while his comrades continued to fight and die in Vietnam, and while our POWs still languished in the Hanoi Hilton and other NVA cesspools. I find his current shallow references to supporting our engaged troops in Iran, to be a cynical manipulation of his own record of abandoning his peers who remained loyal to the fight in Vietnam. From 1969 to the end of the war, over 20,000 American soldiers lost their lives in a war that the United States did not have the resolve to win. If General Giap (North Vietnam General) was accurate in his assessment that North Vietnam was going to seek a conditional surrender but stopped due to the sensationalism of the American news media and the anti-war protests following the 1968 Tet Offensive, it follows that those who participated in these anti-war activities and misreporting have to share partial responsibility for those 20,000 + Americans deaths. 1968 TET was a turning point in the war. We won the battle but with the media and the protestor we lost the support of the American people. I hope the same thing does not happen in Iraq. Our troop deserve our support..... Tet Offensive of 1968 - A Simpler Version
